MINISTRY OF CULTURE & IJAW NATIONAL AFFAIRS,BAYELSA STATE ORGANIZES A ONE DAY SYMPOSIUM ON THE PROSPECTS OF INDIGENOUS FILMS IN NIGERIA. Their goal is to develop, promote and preserve the culture of the ijaw people for social cohesion and nation build. ...
                  AIMS OF THE SYMPOSIUM...
(1)To bring together film makers and other stakeholders.
(2) To discuss the way forward for indigenous films in Nigeria.
(3)To create space and market for Ijaw films.
(4)To aggregate the successes recorded and encourage Ijaw Movies to make continuous appearance in national and international movie channels. (4)To stimulate the interest of our youths to embrace the movie industry

SOME OF THE PROGRAMMES!!

Ijaw Music Project—
Develop and promote Ijaw music by hosting state, regional and national competitions and projects on Ijaw music and dance showcase the diverse but rich Ijaw Indigenous music.
Support and promote Ijaw Musicians in all genres of music
Encourage the participation of Ijaw Music and musicians in international events.

CREATIVE PEOPLE PROJECTS 1(VISUAL ARTS)—
Build arts galleries to display collection of indigenous, historical, and contemporary work.
Support Arts publications.
Encourage documentary Films on visual arts.
Support state, national and international arts exhibitions.
Provide Funding.
Encourage research on Ijaw visual arts.
Encourage Ijaw photography
CREATIVE PEOPLE PROJECTS 2(CRAFTS)
Support the marketing and distribution of Ijaw crafts.
Annual crafts awards.
Galleries Display the crafts.
Annual crafts competitions in the genres of textile, embroidery,
wearing, indigenous clay and carvings.
IJAW FILM PROJECT
Provide marketing platforms for films.
Make Bayelsa a film-making destination.
Make Bayelsa a film-producing state.
Develop, promote, and support Ijaws in the film industry.
Support the development of and access to the industry.
Research.
Provide training and education.

IJAW LITERACY PROJECT
Provide platforms to give writers/poets opportunities to hone their skills.
Promote literature in Ijaw language
Literacy festivals.
Literacy award.
Support writers/poets.

His Excellency Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, Governor Bayelsa State, was the Special Guest of Honour and was ably represented by His Deputy, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah Rtd.
The event was hosted by the honourable Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw National Affairs, Dr Felix Tuodolo.
