Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has approved the appointment of Freda Ruth Murray- Bruce as Director-General of the Bayelsa state Investment Promotion Agency. The appointment is with immediate effect. Ruth Murray-Bruce holds a Ph.D. degree in International Trade and Agricultural Law of the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
Until her appointment, she was the Head, Strategy and Corporate Performance Management, National Communications Commission, NCC, Abuja.
It is expected that, she will bring her wealth of experience to bear on her new assignment.
Ms. Freda Ruth Murray-Bruce was a senior manager and the special assistant on strategy, monitoring and corporate development to the chief executive officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Prior to her appointment in the NCC, she worked for the United Nations in Nigeria on governance and as a national expert in agriculture. In the past, she held several national positions, including being a member of the federal government committee on the Economic Partnership Agreement and Bilateral Investment Treaties. Most of her work history has been in the telecommunications industry in Canada and England.
Ms. Murray-Bruce is a published novelist and poet. She holds a master’s degrees in information systems and international law. She is currently writing up her Ph.D. on the impact of the agricultural subsidies of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Ms. Murray-Bruce has written several papers and is a rights and development activist. She is fluent in English and French.
