NEW MEDIA IN CONTEMPORATY TIMES

COMRADE JULIUS TRUST BOKURU

ARTICLE (1) By comrade julius trust bokuru
Nothing has defined our transition into the 21st century more than what new media has. Taking the last decade in retrospect one might not note very much evident changes except of course the emergence of new media. Back then, major news corporations were mostly government owned, they churned out volumns upon volumns of screened articles on newspapers which very often did not meet the demands of the teeming populace. Only a priviledged few had the grace to create and disseminate information. For that, news became scarce and relatively unreliable, thus, providing shelters for political and social excesses.
It is fair to say that had new media emerged earliar, a good deal of the dictators that featured all through the last century would have been ousted soon after their inconsistencies earned publicity. Our Mobutu's, Idi Amins, Kenyatta's, apartheid regimes etc. Wouldn't have lingered with the goblet of power as they did.
New media is the greatest gift man has armed democracy with. Little wonder communist and autocratic regimes vehemently reviewed and banned social media detecting it as an enhancer of free speech. The importance of new media in contemporary times can never be over emphasized. Images are effectively created and effectivel tarnished with alarming ease. President Jonathan who first declared his intent to run for the presidency of Nigeria on facebook in less than a week became one of the most 'liked' presidents on social media, second only to president Barack Obama of the United states. Social media was the wheels by which the campaigns of Goodluck Jonathan and Henry Dickson for president and governor respectively glided into record victories, courtesy of Dr John Idumange's social media crusades
Another very notoriously fascinating example of the rising might of new media was the Arab spring which in many respects is still ongoing. It all started in Tunisia when a certain Bouazisi struck a match and placed it on his fuel-taken body, incinerating both himself and his shattered dreams, an act inspired his insensitive government. The fires from Bouazisi's body illuminated the arab world through the near infinite channels of new media
New media has been more than a setback for corruption, it has imposed the process of transparency on so many governments around the world. As seen in 2011 general elections, new media played a very crucial role in the conduction of one of the fairest elections of our time
It has increased awareness among citizens. The former ignoramuses of politics can now say a thing or two about latest political events. It has made it possible to share experience and knowledge of tools used around the world and explore possibility of adaptation partaining good governance such as performance assesment, budget tracking, policy driven discourse, civic engagements etc.
It is imperative to note that new media has come to stay and it will forever be a tool of good governance provided that governments, corporations, individuals harness its potentials to the fullest extent.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO "SAINT" FAROUK

BY: SAINT MIENPAMO

The Gospel According To "Saint" Farouk
1) And it came to pass after these things, on the first day of the first month of the twelfth year after the second millennium, that king Jona son of Bele announced to the people saying; there is no money left in the royal treasury, and the future of the kingdom is in great danger.

2) Therefore, a measure of oil shall no longer sell for three scores of silver and seven, but shall now be seven scores of silver and one. But the people grumbled aloud, and said unto another, what shall it profit our king to gain all these oil money and lose his throne?

3) For it is appointed unto him to reign but once, and after this prison, for many are the atrocities which he has committed.

4) So they said unto the king, eat thou thy food in peace in the palace, and surround thou thyself with thine women, only touch not our oil price and do thy people no harm.

5) But the king would not listen, and said unto himself, I know my people, they shall only grumble for a while and soon they shall forget.

6) But the people would not forget, for the burden was too much for them to bear, and they said; now unto him that is able to increase the price of oil exceeding abundantly above all that his people can bear or think, according to the greed which worketh in him;

7) Unto him be curses in the streets by the masses throughout all ages, protests without end.

8) So they took to the streets and gave the land no peace, and there was no going out or coming in throughout the kingdom for two weeks, and the king feared greatly and said to himself, surely these people shall overturn me if I answer them not.

9) So he called the head of the labourers unto the palace, and gave him bags of gold, that they might turn off the wrath of the people against the king.

10) So the king assembled the people and said unto them; a measure of oil shall no longer be seven scores of silver and one, but shall now be four scores of silver, one dozen and one, to this your leaders have agreed. Praise me now therefore for I am a benevolent king.

11) And after all these, the Loudspeaker of the House of People said, let us inquire into the king’s claim that there be no money in the royal treasury. So they appointed Farcrook, son of Lawal.

12) And said unto him, gather ye now all the oil sellers, that we may know who stole from the kingdom. This did him with diligence, and came back with his report saying

13) Thieves abound in the land, and so have the oil sellers stole from the people, and gave them not oil, this they did with the help of Aliyaro the king’s mistress; and the amount he mentioned was unheard of in the land.

14) When the people heard this, they were dismayed, and sorrow gripped their hearts.

15) But the oil sellers went in unto the king in his chamber, and said; rememberest thou O king that the what we stole did we made available to thy campaign, and by thus did we make you king.
16) If thou deliver us unto the people that they may punish us, we will hold not our tongue to tell the people that thou art one of us.

17) And they said unto him, how else shall we destroy the message
if not to destroy the messenger? Let us therefore implicate Farcrook the son of Lawal in this matter.

18) So they sent a certain rich man from the West by the name Otedollar, and he took Farcrook into his house and gave him some money, that he may alter the report which he had set before the people.

19) And it was that Otedollar went before an assembly of the people and said unto them, trust ye this man who said we stole from the treasury? Surely he is one of us, for he came unto me in the middle of the night, and he left with his pockets full of money.

20) And the people where amazed, and their hearts bled, for Farcrook was a man in whom they had to their trust.

21) So Farcrook arose, and said; Otedollar is my briber, I did not request. He maketh me to sit down in his Maitama house; he leadeth me beside the chilled champagne.

22) He exploited me greed; he leadeth me in the paths of marked dollars for subsidy’s sake.

23) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of EFCC, I will fear no arrest: for bribes are with me; my loots and my kickbacks they comfort me.

24) Thou preparest the dollars before me, in the presence of the SSS: thou anointest my mouth with wine; my pocket runneth over.

25) Surely the shame and reproach shall follow me all the days of my life, but I will dwell in the house of PDP forever and ever.

26) And the people wept, but there was no one to console them.

$3 Million Bribery Scandal: Farouk Lawan To Spend Weekend In Detention

Rep Farouk Lawan walking into the police station yesterday in Abuja

by: bayelsa new media team
Farouk Lawan, the embattled Nigerian lawmaker who led an investigation into the fraud-ridden fuel subsidy program only to fall prey to charges of demanding and accepting bribes from targets of his probe, is to spend the weekend at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
A police source told our correspondent that the police have refused to allow the suspended legislator to go home “because of his refusal to surrender the $620,000 bribe he collected Femi Otedola.”
Mr. Lawan’s lawyer, Israel Olorundare (SAN), was still with him at the police headquarters at the time of filing this report. His other lawyer, Sam Ologunorisa (SAN), confirmed the refusal of the police to release him.
Mr. Ologunorisa said it was unfortunate that the police were using the opportunity of the weekend to detain his client, adding that, were it not for the week, Mr. Lawan would have headed to the court to enforce his fundamental human rights.
“The police are using the opportunity of the weekend to detain him illegally. We will meet in court on Monday if they refuse to release him before then,” he said.
The lawyer frowned at the decision of Nigeria’s police to detain his client, wondering why the same police failed to detain Mr. Otedola, the oil magnate who reportedly gave the legislator more than $600,000 in bribes.

NEMBE LOCAL GOVERNMENT IS WORKING!

HON. WARIBUGO'S TWO-BY-TWO RURAL DEVELOPMENT PARADIGM IS FIRST OF ITS KIND:

BY", SAINT MIENPAMO

Since assumption of office, there were mounting complaints in the rural areas of Nembe Local Government that they have not felt the impact of government. Given the lean resources at the disposal of Council, the Chairman Hon. Waribugo Sylva evolved a new paradigm of community development which he christened TWO-BY-TWO
By this paradigm, a cash of Two Million Naira is made available to two communities to embark on very pressing development projects such as renovation of Healthcare Centres, sinking of boreholes, clearing of inter-community roads etc.
The TWO-BY-TWO development paradigm has created massive development impact in the rural communities. Hon. Waribugo Sylva is reputed to be the first LGA Chairman in Nigeria that has successfully implemented the innovation successfully.

PROFILE OF P.Z. AGINIGHANA A GENIUS

Power Ziakede Aginighan: Prince of the N'Delta

Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success;

leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against

the right wall. - Stephen R. Covey

Introduction

The world over, transparency and accountability are two principal components of public service, When these cardinal elements are missing, society suffers stagnation or in a worse case scenario, suffer retrogression. That is why states with high transparency indices represent first world countries. The United States, Russia Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan among other developed countries represents the progressive bloc. These states have over the years evolved a sophisticated techno-political system where merit overrides every other interest in the management of the common wealth. Today, accountability and transparency index is the yardstick used to measure the democratic credentials of developing countries.

Nigeria has been widely criticized for its poor transparency record. There is general mistrust about public office holders in Nigeria because of the scandalous and unedifying antecedents of many individuals who often face corruption charges after leaving office.

These trends seem to be undermining the credibility of the few exemplary individuals who have maintained sufficient moral rectitude in discharging their public responsibilities.

While we crave for the missing link in the Nigerian leadership, there in need to look inwards for individuals with unquestionable character and historical profile. Therefore PZ Aginighan posses the pedigree and charisma to run a higher office that requires high moral, transparency and accountability standards, the time has come for "a prophet to be recognized in hometown".

In recognition of his role in the quest for peace in the Niger Delta region, Aginighan who plunged into the rough waters of Delta State Governorship race on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2004 to 2006 was honoured with several titles by traditional rulers of various kingdoms in the Niger Delta.

Amongst them are the Adjerese of Ogor kingdom (meaning intervener and problem solver), the Oruese R'Ovie (the blesser of the king) of Ughelli Kingdom, the Ebi-Agura (the good star) of Obotebe Kingdom, the izon Ebimomawei (the source of hope) of Ogulagha kingdom and the Aduaten (the strong pillar) of Seimbiri Kingdom to mention just a few. He has also received several awards of excellence from various youths, women, non-governmental and community based organizations for his contributions in the service of humanity.

Some of the awards include: Media Commendation Award as the Most Outstanding Friend of the Masses by Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), the most Accessible Public Office Holder in the Niger Delta by National Association of Niger Delta Students (NANDS), African ICON of Our Generation Award by the International Institute of Comparative Leadership for Africans and blacks in Diaspora, Niger Delta Man of the Year 2008 and Niger Delta Peace Ambassador Award, Youth Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation and Youth Federation for World Peace and Award of Excellence for Dedication and Selfless Service to the Niger Delta by Nigeria Union of Journalists, Award of Excellence by the South-South Youth Leaders Forum for outstanding contributions towards the advancement and development of the Niger Delta, Distinguished Service Award by Isoko Development Union (IDU) and Prestigious Leadership Award by the Students Union Government, University of Benin in recognition of contributions to nation building and youth development, 2005.

Aginighan who authored two instructional materials to assist students in the mastery of Mathematics during his days as an Accountant/Lecturer at the College of Education, Warri also has to his credit a number of articles in various national dailies commenting on socio-economic and political developments in the Niger Delta and Nigeria. To a very large spectrum of youths in the Niger Delta and Nigeria, he is a cooling personality and a role model. The wide acceptance of this orator, activist and humanitarian in the Niger Delta knows no ethnic boundaries.

As a public sector finance manager, Aginighan represented the defunct OMPADEC as a member of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) from November 1996 March, 1999. Aginighan who has received very wide exposure locally and internationally participated in the prestigious Top Executives Leadership Course at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, United Kingdom and the Executive Briefing Session at the International Civil Service Commission of the United Nations at New York, United States of America.

A noteworthy personality in this context is Elder, Power Ziakede Aghinighan. PZ's life as a public sector finance manager has been widely applauded in the Niger Delta and overseas. The above assertion could be justified by the numerous meritorious awards he has received from various organizations; among which includes: Media Commendation Award as the Most Outstanding Friend of the Masses by Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), the Most Accessible Public Office Holder in the Niger Delta by National Association of Niger Delta Students (NANDS), African ICON of Our Generation Award by the International Institute of Comparative Leadership for Africans and Blacks in Diaspora, Niger Delta Man of the Year 2008 and Niger Delta peace Ambassador Award, Youth Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation and Youth Federation for World Peace and Award of Excellence for Dedication and Selfless Service to the Niger Delta by Nigeria Union of Journalists, Award of Excellence by the South-South Youth Leaders Forum for outstanding contributions towards the advancement and development of the Niger Delta-to mention but a few, however the above accolades represents years of dedicated and accountable service to Niger Deltans, Nigerians and humanity as a whole.

In October, 2010, he was awarded the fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, ICEN. The award was conferred on him against the background of his dexterity in the management of men, money and materials in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. He is credited to have re-organized the Directorate of Finance and instituted a transparent due process regime in the Agency. He is still on duty as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the NDDC.

Aginighan, an ordained servant of God, a Pastor in The Apostolic Church Nigeria and happily married to Amerikaere for upwards of twenty-five years is blessed with four boys and three girls.

From November 1996-March, 1999 P.Z. Aginighan represented the defunct OMPADEC as a member of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). He has received very wide exposure locally and internationally; i.e he participated in the prestigious Top Executives Leadership Course at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, United Kingdom and the Executive Briefing Session at the International Civil Service Commission of the United Nations at New York, United States of America.

Key Achievements in NDDC

He is an associate member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) as well as Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

1. P.Z Aginighan belongs to the school of thought that the vehement the vehement advocacy for job creation for youths. The need to create sustainable opportunities for youths who have posed a a grave and growing danger to the Ijaw people in the light of unfolding realities that Ijaw nation is witnessing today.

Here him"The oil multinational corporations (MNCs), have not been able support our people with the kind of opportunities that we need to leave productive lives. They dish out a few jobs, build a few low quality cottage clinics, hand out a few improperly constructed classroom blocks and scream out about how much they have contributed to local communities. If you compare this with what they do in their areas of operations in the western world, you would have no other option than to hate them for ludicrous double standards even when we provide them with crude oil obtained without need for expensive enhanced recovery methods. Pastor P.Z Aginighan said further on NDDC and Int't development Agencies.

On employment generation in the Niger Delta, Aginighan said "There is now popular agreement that NDDC should partner with international development groups to create a World Class Vocational Training Center with satellite campuses in all states in the Niger Delta. The mandate to establish these centers should be placed on the Niger Delta Development Commission within the remits of a Development Solidarity Initiative wherein NDDC with partner with all oil companies operating in the Niger Delta with the guidance of the United Nations International Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training UNEVOC . This is not all. Appropriate processes must also be put in place to ensure that ALL graduate and products of this training center will be absorbed into multinational companies and other outlets where learned skills will be put to good use to enable graduates win good jobs and earn good income. The social purpose value of this initiative can never be underestimated.

2. He was appointed Ag. Executive Director (Finance and Administration),NDDC on the 28th of May 2007. Pastor P.Z. Aginighan changed the perception of people about the NDDC and its relationship with the States. Before he became MD of the Commission, there was a suffocating competition between the NDDC and the State. Most of the States saw the NDDC as a parallel government, and this wrong perception stifled initiatives and synergy. Today, the understanding and cooperation between the Commission and the States redound to his efforts in forging that robust sense of collaboration forged under his administration.

3. At the first South-South Economic Summit held in Calabar, Aginighan, though Acting Managing Director of the NDDC openly accused the Federal Government of short-changing the Commission in terms of funding. The Acting MD specifically, accused the National Assembly of under-appropriating the NDDC. This position was highly publicized in most national papers. Most people envisaged that there would be a fractious relationship between the NDDC and the NASS, but because of his understanding of the challenges facing the Region, and the dexterity with which he handles the affairs of the Commission, a Senator described him as ' the institutional memory of the Commission". It was this voice of reason that prompted the litigation of the Traditional Rulers of Oil Mineral Producing Commission, TROMPCOM, against the Federal Government for under-funding the NDDC.

4. He is a man who believes that when a man is exposed to leadership, the most critical thing is how the role incumbent uses his powers. As Acting MD of NDDC, he kept very low profile. The fact that he lived in the same apartment he has been occupying in NDDC quarters since his OMPADEC days attest to his humility and robust sense of service to the people. This is the low profile he keeps up till date.

5. In his 111 days, P.Z.Aginighan had repositioned the Commission by redeploying people according to their specialism. By this singular act, NDDC started to operate a new organogram through his exhibition of political will and foresight, while at the same time no allowing power to influence critical management decisions. This initiative instilled discipline, high ethical standards and engendered higher productivity behavior of workers.

Conclusion:

In all ramifications, "Odudu" is a good manager and leadership. A good manager is a man who isn't worried about his own career but rather the careers of those who work for him. He has motivated his workers and fought against injustice at any level. "The difference between management and administration (which is what the bureaucrats used to do exclusively) is the difference between choice and rigidity."In the words of Paul Hawken "Good management is the art of making problems so interesting and their solutions so constructive that everyone wants to get to work and deal with them" P.Z. meet both criteria hence he is both a manager and a leader. He saw the onerous challenges facing NDDC and provided very constructive solutions such that everyone in the Commission echoes his nick name a mantra that opens doors.

His track record is inundated with accountability and selfless services. PZ Aginighan is a great personality and role model to a very large spectrum of Nigerian youths because of his ever-ready-to-assist disposition. Aginighan has distinguished himself as a man among men due to his profound transparency and accountability profile, there is no doubt that he will deliver efficiently and effectively whenever he is mandated with any position of higher leadership.

He is a leadership generously endowed with astuteness and robust acumen. It is not surprising that most Niger Deltans see P.Z. Aginighan as a man destined to occupy a political space at the Ministerial level, which will serve as a launching pad for his ultimate political ambition of serving his people at the higher level. He is indeed an indefatigable prince of the Niger Delta, with immense followership. Even nature will attest to the fact that P.Z. is a personification of humanity, humility and service to mankind.

BAYELSA STATE GOVT, PRESENTS N6BILLION NAIRA CHEQUES FOR ROAD PROJECTS

BY: saint mienpamo 1:43am  14-06-2012
Bayelsa State Government has presented cheques totaling six billion naira to three contractors to kick-off the process of completing the Central Senatorial Road Project as well as other major roads and bridges in the state.

Governor Seriake Dickson, who made the presentation to representatives of Julius Berger Plc, Setraco Nigeria Limited and Chinese Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC) at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Yenagoa, said the presentation of the cheques to the companies was a sign of commitment and partnership for the development and prosperity of the state.

Governor Dickson commended the companies, particularly Julius Berger for mobilizing to site, describing them as a reliable and dependable ally in the restoration project.

He urged them to redouble the pace of work in the various projects they will be contracted to undertake in the state. In the same vein, the Governor expressed confidence and trust in the ability of Setraco Nigeria Limited to deliver on time noting that the presentation will enable them complete the Toru-Ebeni Bridge as well as the construction of 1 km stretch of road.

Commenting on CCECC, Governor Dickson noted that it was their first time of handling any road construction in the state and called on them to justify the confidence reposed in them by doing a good job.

Responding, the companies in their separate remarks expressed confidence in their ability to also execute the projects satisfactorily and on time.

They assured the Governor of their commitment to the terms of agreement in the contracts stating that they will not disappoint in the discharge of their duties.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Lawrence Erudjakpo said the presentation of the cheques to the contractors effectively kick-starts the much anticipated road projects in the state.

The breakdown of the amount shows that Julius Berger got N2 billion to continue the central senatorial road project from Yenagoa – Oporoma while Setraco received N2.5 billion to handle the Toru-Ebeni bridge as well as the construction of 1 km road and CCECC got N1.5 billon to begin work on the Etegwe – Tombia road project.

Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research & Social Media Government House, P.M.B.01, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State - Nigeria

BAYELSA NEW MEDIA TEAM, INAUGURATION/INDUCTION - SLATED FOR JUNE 23RD 2012
SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT FOR FRIENDS, AND SUPPORTERS OF GOVERNOR HENRY SERIAKE DICKSON & HIS DEPUTY REAR ADMIRAL GBORIBIOGHA JOHN JONAH Rtd.
The office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research & Social Media hereby presents the second list of SOCIAL MEDIA CHAMPIONS who supported Governor Henry Seriake Dickson & his Deputy Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah rtd on the New Media before, during & after the Elections.
Some of the names that appear on the list may not necessarily be supporters of the present administration but they constitute an indispensable segment of the New Media community. Recognizing the fact that no democracy can thrive without opposition, we have considered that listening to those dissenting voices will enable government properly articulate policies and programmes to reduce the margin of errors. It was John Galbraith who said many years ago that “Politics is the art of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable." In our candid opinion, those voices are necessary for the blossoming of good governance and participatory democracy.

BRIBERY SCANDAL; REPS HOLD EMERGENCY SESSION FRIDAY

SPEAKER, HOUSE OF REP, NIGERIA

WRITTEN BY SAINT MIENPAMO

The House of Representatives is to hold an emergency session on Friday over the $3m cash-for-clearance scandal currently rocking the House.

Members have been asked to cut short their one week break and ensure attendance.

A terse statement signed by the Clerk, House of Representatives, Mr. M.A. Sani-Omolori and made available to reporters on We...dnesday announced the reconvening of an emergency session for Friday, June 15.

The special announcement titled: “Reconvening of the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives,” reads:

“This is to inform all Honourable members of the House of Representatives that the House would reconvene to hold a plenary session on Friday June 15, 2012 at 10am prompt. Honourable Members are advised to take note and attend promptly, please.”

This will be the second time the House would be going into an emergency session. The first time, ironically, was on January 8 when lawmakers cut short their end of year break in the wake of the removal of the fuel subsidy by the Federal Government and which eventually culminated in the setting up of the eight-man panel headed by Farouk Lawan which investigated the fuel subsidy regime.

Friday’s meeting may see the House suspending the Chairman of the ad- hoc panel over the scandal which many members say has brought the House into disrepute.

There has been palpable anger on the side of lawmakers who feel ridiculed by the unfolding bribe-for-clearance saga, with many asking that Lawan be made to answer for his actions.

POWER ZIAKEDE AGIMIGHAN, A SILLENT ACHIVER IN IJAWLAND

written by: john idumange, edited by; BAYELSA NEW MEDIA TEAM

Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the NDDC is not appointed to serve narrow village or alma mater interest but the wider interest of the entire Niger Delta region as the custodian of the funds of the Commission. The Oronsaye Committee that was set up to examine the activities of the NDDC from 2007 to 2011 did not find any financial impropriety on the part of PZ. At a reception/thanksgiving service held in his honour at Warri on 18th November 2011 by the Izons of Delta State under the chairmanship of our National Leader, Chief Dr Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, Senator James Manager, Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta publicly declared that there was no indictment against PZ Aginighan in all the top management positions he held in the NDDC. This was widely reported.

One Perez Omun and His Barefaced Lies
The allegation made by Perez Omoun that ‘Ebi, Ayafeyai and Numutundeowei’ died while chasing water hyacinth job from PZ as Ag MD is one of the lies manufactured by Perez to present PZ in bad light before his people who have identified him as a worthy son. We challenge Perez to mention the towns his phantom water hyacinth contractors hail from. This allegation is reminiscent of a fake petition against PZ to the EFCC orchestrated by Perez Omoun in collaboration with a fake EFCC official while PZ was in office. It may interest members of the Forum to know that few days after Perez Omoun and the fake EFCC official visited PZ in a hospital bed in PH with the fake petition, his collaborator who also attempted to dupe former Bayelsa Deputy Governor Peremobowei Ebebi was arrested.

Pastor P.Z. Aginighan Is An Achiever
Pastor P.Z. Aginighan is an achiever in private and public life. A thousand lies manufactured by Perez Omoun against PZ cannot withstand the truth that PZ rendered patriotic service to Ijaw Nation while in the NDDC. PZ remains one of the most accessible Nigerians that have occupied public office. He was accessible to the high and low in the Niger Delta. PZ’s impact in NDDC can only be judged from various development projects embarked upon by the Commission in the Ijaw territory during his tenure. The 1st phase of the Bomadi-Tuomo-Tamigbe-Ojobo which linked Bomadi and Tuomo was commissioned when PZ was Ag EDFA. The 2nd phase of this road linking Tuomo and Tamigbe is in progress . Similarly, the 1st phase of the Gbaregolo-Gbekebor-Ogulagha Road which includes a major bridge across the Enekorogha Creek is also in progress. PZ as Ag MD/CEO made Emakalakala in Ogbia Local Government Area accessible within 5 days to make it possible for Chief Melford Okilo to buried . It is to the credit of PZ that the Agadagba Obon Arogbo Road project in Ondo State was awarded by the NDDC (although there were some hiccups in the take-off of the project}. What of the fast-tracking of completion of the major bridge across the Sagbama Creek at Bulou Orua in Bayelsa State. PZ fought for the inclusion of Udo-Ofunama-Ogbudugbudu-Ogbinbiri Road among the priority projects to be awarded by the NDDC to link Edo and Delta States.
PZ believes more in opening up the entire Ijaw land with a network of roads more than concentrating development in his own village or alma mater as that only satisfies Perez Omoun’s definition of a patriotic Izon man.
Conclusion

PZ has an image of a credible, modest, unassuming and forthright Nigerian. Only men of questionable character need image laundering. PZ certainly does not belong to this category of Nigerians. PZ is not lobbying anyone for any appointment in Nigeria. He has paid his dues and it is left for the President to either engage him for higher national service or leave him with his ecclesiastical duties in the vineyard of God.
In Izon land we respect our elders and leaders as this paves the way for our younger ones to respect us. But Perez has consistently used the INF to insult, malign and cast aspersion on the person of PZ by calling him several unprintable names even when the whole Izon Nation is full of appreciation for the services of this great patriot.
