By any standard the Executive Chairman of Nembe Local Government Council, Hon. Waribugo Sylva is rated as the best in Bayelsa State. Three Non-Governmental Organizations in the Niger Delta conducted a survey and the results placed him above other Chairmen in five basic leadership dimensions namely:
Human Relations and Information sharing with the people
Innovativeness in terms of meeting the needs of the people
High level of project initiation and completion rate
Efficiency in using meager resources to achieve optimal results, and
Acceptability by the people
PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Here, the three NGO’s identified some of the infrastructural development projects embarked upon by the Chairman in the year 2010 when he assumed office.
1. Renovation of water (pipes/minor reticulation in Nembe Bassambiri. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
2. Purchasing of 35 HP pump in Nembe Ogbolomabiri. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
3. Pulling out of damaged pump, serving of bore hole and painting of water tank in Nembe Bassambiri. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
4. Purchasing of generators for communities (Youth) in Nembe Bassambiri. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
5. Purchasing of generators for communities (Youth) in Nembe Ogbolomabiri. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
6. Purchasing of laptops and printers (5 sets) at the Council Secretariat. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
7. Clearing of Otatubu Road prior to Mr. President’s visit in Otatubu/ Ogopiri. This awarded on September 8th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
8. Renovation of pier latrine in Nembe Ogbolomabiri. This was awarded on September 8th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
9. Renovation of pier latrine in Nembe Bassambiri. This was awarded on September 8th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
10. Renovation and remodeling of Divisional police Headquarter building in Nembe Bassambiri. This was awarded on September 16th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed
11. Painting of Igopiri Bridge in Igopiri. This was awarded on August 16th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
12. Renovation of JTF basses and provision of sand bags and mattresses in both sides. This was awarded on June 17th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
13. Renovation of Chairman’s lodge in Nembe Bassambiri. This was awarded on September 16th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
14. Renovation of Chairman’s lodge in Nembe Ogbolomabiri. This was awarded on September 16th, 2010 through direct labour and the job is 100% completed.
These Projects are by no means exhaustive. Watch out for Part two and three
